Keeping Up With Spearfish's Growing Electrical Needs
Spearfish has grown quite a bit over the years, and that means plenty of new homes, renovations, businesses, and electrical systems keeping up with them. Wires R Us has served homeowners, builders, and contractors throughout the Black Hills since 1999. What started with Donahue Williamson and one van is now a second-generation, family-owned electrical company. We’ve grown, but our approach hasn’t changed: we show up on time, do clean work, and take pride in the result.
Our work in Spearfish includes new home construction, multi-family wiring, panel upgrades, EV charger installation, and generator installations. We work with builders and contractors on larger projects while also helping homeowners make practical upgrades to the homes they already have.
Construction work has taught us that keeping a project moving requires more than just doing the electrical work correctly. It means communicating with the people involved, staying organized, and showing up when the schedule says you will. Our crews take that same approach when working in someone’s home.
And when we’re working directly with homeowners, we keep the conversation simple. We’ll explain what needs to be done, why it matters, and what to expect before we start.
If you need an electrician in Spearfish, Wires R Us brings decades of Black Hills experience to the job, whether you’re building something new, upgrading an existing system, or just trying to figure out what that suspicious noise from the electrical panel is all about.

What types of electrical work does Wires R Us specialize in?

Our crews are built to support tract home builders, and developers who need consistent scheduling, clean job sites, and dependable execution. We also provide select residential services such as panel upgrades, EV charger installations, RV outlets, lighting upgrades, and generator installs.
How is Wires R Us different from other electrical contractors?
We focus on making projects run smoother.
Quality isn’t just a word thrown around. We have the reputation to prove it (Read More).
Our teams are known for showing up when scheduled, working efficiently, keeping job sites clean, and communicating clearly throughout the project. We operate with organized systems that reduce mistakes, speed up timelines, and help general contractors avoid delays, rework, and coordination headaches.
Do you work with homeowners, or only builders and contractors?
While our primary focus is new construction and multi-family projects, we do work with homeowners for specific services such as EV chargers, service upgrades, panel swaps, and other professional-grade electrical installations. Homeowners who value clean work, clear communication, and long-term safety are a great fit for our team.
Are you licensed and experienced in the Black Hills region?
Yes. Wires R Us has been serving the Black Hills since 1999 and is now a second-generation electrical contractor. Our work is fully licensed, code-compliant, and built to pass inspections without surprises. We regularly work across Rapid City, Spearfish, Sturgis, Belle Fourche, Hot Springs, Hermosa, Black Hawk, and surrounding communities.
How do I know I can rely on your crew and schedule?
Reliability is one of our core values. We schedule realistically, communicate proactively, and follow through on commitments. General contractors continue working with us long-term because we keep projects moving, coordinate well with other trades, and eliminate the common frustrations that come with unreliable subcontractors.
Why tract home builders are important for us.
In the tract home builder world, demand is high. Standards are extremely high and scheduled are locked in. We work….
How reliable are the fixtures, devices, panels and breakers you install?
We choose products for long-term performance and low callbacks. In practice, that means we install brands that have shown consistent build quality, low failure rates, and good field support. For example, we prefer RAB, Maxim, and Cooper for lighting, Schneider Electric for panelboards and breakers, King Wire for SER service entrance cable, and Briggs & Stratton for standby generators because of their track records. Choosing reliable brands, installing them correctly, and inspecting connections during installation are the largest factors in long-term reliability.
